Where did you grow up, and where do you live now?Indianapolis, IN and I now live in Hinsdale, IL, which is located about 20 miles west of DT CHI.
What was your first job?
I worked on the grounds crew for the country club across the street from my house.
What is your favorite part of your job?
Meeting all the great people across the country and the “chase” of new business pursuits.
Describe your career in real estate.
I literally took my real estate exam on September 11, 2001, so unfortunately I entered the business at a very challenging time in our country and in the world. I started at Grubb & Ellis and worked a specific market area for 5-6 years before starting to focus on the education sector. Created the education group at Grubb & Ellis in 2007/2008 and then came to C&W in June 2011.
What skills / qualities do you look for when hiring / promoting someone?
What advice would you give a young professional?
After a few years, think very hard about what you are good at and do everything you can to focus on that specific item and either eliminate or seek help for the areas you are not so good at.
What is the most important skill every person should have?
What is the most important lesson you’ve learned in your many years in the business?
Never stop making cold calls.
