The Firm Continues to Expand Aggressively in the Region with the Hire of Associate J.D. Brussels and Senior Research Analyst Valerie Tatum.
BOCA RATON, Dec. 11, 2015 – Cushman & Wakefield announced today that it has made two more new hires in South Florida. The firm, which is expanding rapidly in the region, added Associate J.D. Brussels and Senior Research Analyst Valerie Tatum. Both will operate out of the firm’s Boca Raton office.
Mr. Brussels will join the tenant advisory team of Senior Vice President Rick Miller, which specializes in helping tenants identify and align strategic business, financial and operational objectives with real estate requirements. He comes to Cushman & Wakefield from CBRE where he served as a Researcher focused on the analysis of commercial properties throughout Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
Mr. Brussels graduated Cum Laude from The University of Florida with a B.A. in Criminology and Law and attended the Shepard Broad College of Law at Nova Southeastern University. While at the University of Florida, he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and was a member of the Gator Sailing Club.
“J.D. will be a tremendous addition to our team,” said Miller. “He has quickly established an encyclopedic knowledge of the South Florida commercial real estate market, which will be of great benefit to both Cushman & Wakefield and our clients.”
Ms. Tatum will serve as the firm’s Senior Research Analyst covering Broward and Palm Beach Counties as well as the Treasure Coast. Ms. Tatum joins Cushman & Wakefield from CBRE, where she served as Research Coordinator. For the past 15 years, she has amassed an impressive commercial real estate track record as a broker, acquisition manager and appraiser in South Florida and Central Florida.
Ms. Tatum attended Lynn University and Broward College. She spent nearly a decade working in the Orlando community as a Program Director with the Boys and Girls Club and Community Outreach Coordinator with The Cathedral Church of Saint Luke in Orlando.
“The addition of Valerie to our South Florida team helps Cushman & Wakefield Research further establish its primacy in the market,” said Florida Research Manager Chris Owen. “Her vast experience and knowledge of the region make her a unique candidate. Valerie has worked every side of a deal and brings an uncommon skill set to the table in our efforts to better serve our clients and brokers.”
The hiring of Mr. Brussels and Ms. Tatum marks further expansion of Cushman & Wakefield’s South Florida operations. The firm recently hired one of the largest Capital Markets teams in South Florida led by Scott O’Donnell and Dominic Montazemi; acquired a multi-billion dollar agency leasing team led by Executive Directors Deanna Lobinsky and Travis Herring; hired Associate Tyler Reynolds to work with the Tenant Advisory Group team of Senior Director Tony Jones and Senior Associate Ryan Levy; and opened an eighth Florida office in Stuart, which houses a nine-person team of Valuation & Advisory professionals led by Managing Director Scott Powell. These hires are in addition to the impressive array of talent acquired in Cushman & Wakefield’s recent merger with DTZ.
