BOMA Bay Area Outstanding Building & Members of the Year Award Winners Announced
On Thursday, February 11, 2016 BOMA Oakland/East Bay and BOMA San Francisco members celebrated those who have contributed to the success of the Bay Area’s commercial real estate industry at Marine’s Memorial Theatre in San Francisco.
BOMA advances the commercial real estate industry through advocacy, professional development and information exchange. Cushman & Wakefield San Francisco was among the sponsors of this highly regarded annual awards gala.
2015 TOBY Award Goes to 201 Spear Street
Among other awards given out for excellence, was the coveted TOBY Award (The Outstanding Office Building of the Year). The Bay Area TOBY Award combines the BOMA San Francisco and BOMA Oakland/East Bay members. 201 Spear Street won the Bay Area TOBY in the 250,000 – 499,999 square foot category.
About the TOBY Award
The TOBY Award is the most prestigious, comprehensive commercial building evaluation program to recognize and honor excellence in office building operations and management. All facets of a building’s operations are thoroughly examined during the judging process, including tenant relations programs, community involvement, emergency preparedness & security standards, energy conservation, environmental sustainability, and continuing education for building personnel. Floor plans, site plans and photographs round out the portfolio, providing an extensive examination of the building by the judges.
The Levels of Judging
The competition consists of three levels of judging. The first level of competition is held at the local level; winning entries then advance to the regional level; and finally, regional winners advance to the international level. BOMA celebrates this highest honor the commercial real estate industry can bestow on property owners and managers each year in June during BOMA International’s Every Building Conference & Expo at the TOBY Awards ceremony.
Accepting on behalf of Cushman & Wakefield’s 201 Spear Street management team was Jill Vivanco and Annie Bridges. 201 Spear Street now moves on to the Pacific Southwest regional competition and, if successful there, on to the BOMA International level to be awarded this summer.
In addition to the TOBY winners, the following 2015 service awards were also presented to Cushman & Wakefield personnel:
