Coworking Continues to Spread in San Francisco– New Cushman & Wakefield Report Gives Insight on Growth Trends in Tech City

Coworking has changed the global landscape of commercial real estate. The sector has grown significantly over the past few years, especially in major tech cities such as San Francisco. The City is home to a wide range of operators, whether they be international giants like WeWork or local boutique providers.

Our research department in San Francisco is currently tracking 107 coworking locations in the City, occupying 2.9 msf of office space; representing 3.5% of citywide office inventory.

The past two calendar years (2017 and 2018) have seen a surge in coworking growth in San Francisco, surpassing the combined total of the previous seven years.

Coworking continues to grow in San Francisco with operators taking space throughout the city and across all office building classes. Although most of the growth can be attributed to one or two firms, since the start of 2017 there have been expansions by more than 10 different coworking providers.
