Cushman & Wakefield recently took part in Safety Week held May 1-5, an event held in the U.S. and Canada organized by 60 construction firms comprising The Construction Industry Safety (CISI) group and the Incident and Injury Free CEO (IIF) Forum.
A Raleigh-Durham property management team including Debi Hunter, Peter de Leon, Ronnie Garner, and Amory Casto showed their support by hosting a morning “Stretch and Flex” in the atrium of The Chesterfield, a historic downtown project in Durham North Carolina which we manage.
In partnership with Skanska USA, Whiting-Turner, and Gilbane, the team invited subcontractors to participate in a joint stretching session, an activity proven to reduce fatigue and loosen subcutaneous tissue, thus reducing onsite injuries.
In addition, the team participated in a variety of safety trainings, lunches, and programs throughout the week.
“A safe construction site is critical to meet move-in dates for our tenants,” said Becky Hanner, Senior Vice President Property Management.
The purpose of Safety Week is to collectively raise the awareness of the construction industry’s continuing commitment to eliminating worker injury, and to clearly communicate its dedication to a shared culture of care and concern and the belief that every week must be Safety Week.
