Robin Hobbs began her career with Cushman & Wakefield 20 years ago. Since joining the company in 1999, Robin has routinely exemplified Cushman & Wakefield’s core characteristics. To shed light on Robin’s long service with our firm we asked her a few questions, outlining her memorable experiences over the years. Congratulations to Robin Hobbs on celebrating 20 years of service with Cushman & Wakefield!
Tell us a little about your story. How did you come to C&W? What do you do?
I started at Cushman & Wakefield in the Philadelphia office in 1999. I started out working for two senior brokers and two associate brokers. Within a few months I was working for the senior managing director as well. In June 2004, I visited friends in Phoenix/Scottsdale and fell in love with it, even though it was 118 degrees. In January 2005, I visited my friends again, and this time I stopped by the office here and told them I wanted to come and work in this office. I received a call in late July that year that there was an opening, I accepted the job and moved here Labor Day weekend, starting in the office on September 6.
With the world constantly changing, how has your job, or client’s job changed over the past 20 years?
Over the years I have been an administrative assistant, an executive administrative assistant to up to 11 brokers at a time, and also to the Sr. Managing Director and Ops manager. My job duties changed a lot over the years, I learned lot of software programs, helped with training other people on those programs, and I took on a lot of office operations duties (i.e. I became the go-to person for just about everything in the office – process, procedures, desk setups, relocations, mailroom duties, IT duties, office and kitchen supplies…and lists of all kinds)!
What do you like about working at Cushman & Wakefield?
The people. We have such a great group of people working here, or that have worked here, it makes the job much better. I have made many lifelong friends both here and in the Philadelphia office.
If you had to describe yourself in just 3 words, what would they be, and why?
Adventurous, knowledgeable and loyal
Tell us about one or two things that many of your colleagues would not know about you (e.g. your family, sports or creative interests, volunteer activities)
My Hobbs ancestors have been traced back to 1600’s England, with the fist Hobbs in my line arriving in what is now the U.S. in the early very 1700’s.
My favorite vacations are to England, and I love just about everything British. But I had never been to a “high tea” or even had an actual tea party until my birthday a few years ago when I went to the tea room in Care Free, AZ with my girlfriends. We all wore extravagant hats and pretended we were royalty! It was amazing!
9/6/2005. The day I started in Phoenix – everyone was so welcoming. I knew right away I had made the right decision moving here!
2/25/2015. At the CW Kick-Off/Awards party in 2015 when I met Larry Fitzgerald.
