Orlando Named 2nd Most Fun City in U.S.

By Chris Owen, Director

What makes a “fun” city?

WalletHub answered that question by analyzing over 180 cities across the country. Based on the analysis, Orlando ranked as the second “most fun” city in the United States, right behind “Sin City” Las Vegas and above “Bright Lights, Big City” New York.

It’s no surprise Orlando ranked so high on the list — but don’t give Disney and Universal’s theme parks all the credit for making the region such a fun place to live, work and visit.

WalletHub defines a “fun city” as a place that “packs a little bit of everything for everyone.”  Variety and affordability are key components in the rankings. To help Americans find the cities with “the greatest number and variety of fun yet cost-effective options,” the site measured 66 key metrics, ranging from fitness centers per capita to the cost of seeing a movie to average open hours of breweries.

Outside of its theme parks, Orlando has activities for all to enjoy, from high-end shopping to outdoor adventures. A day in Orlando could begin with swimming with the manatees and end with dancing through the night at one of Downtown’s many rooftop amenities.

The infographic below shows what goes in to Orlando’s perfect recipe for fun:
