On May 31, the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) hosted its 15th Annual Commercial Management Leadership Breakfast in which Cushman & Wakefield’s Massiel Santana was honored with the Rising Star of the Year Award. Massiel is a Property Manager at 850 Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, working under Managing Director Edina Lemo and Senior Managing Director, Joe Manasseri in Asset Services.
“Massiel took over a challenging account, and within a year, she has managed to negotiate and resolve all outstanding arrears and correct personnel and operational challenges impacting the account. She is a dedicated professional who works very hard and is always driven to make improvements,” said Edina Lemo, Managing Director, Asset Services.
Ms. Santana is currently managing two major capital improvement projects for 850 Seventh Avenue: sprinkler system upgrades and elevator modernization. She has built a great rapport with tenants, and frequently receives positive feedback about her performance from both the tenants and the client. Massiel has re-bid most of the existing maintenance contracts and has achieved not only cost savings, but has made improvements to the contracted scope. She is a problem solver who knows when to ask for help and direction, and is a fantastic leader, motivating on-site personnel to greatly improve their daily performance and show great care for the asset and their duties.
REBNY’s 15th Annual Commercial Management Leadership Breakfast was hosted at the New York Hilton in Midtown Manhattan, and was keynoted by Owen Thomas, CEO of Boston Properties. John Banks, President of REBNY, noted at the event that half of this year’s honorees were women, “We are gratified that more women in our industry are being recognized for their outstanding professional accomplishments, and thank all of the honorees for their dedication to our industry,” he said.
