Cushman & Wakefield Secures Some of NYC’s Largest Leases in April

Last week, The Real Deal released April’s top 10 office leases in New York City, and Cushman & Wakefield closed three of the top 10, including the largest of the month, Pfizer’s deal at 66 Hudson Boulevard in Hudson Yards. Cushman & Wakefield’s top three transactions totaled 896,000 square feet, 47% of the top 10 deals’ total square footage of 1.9 million square feet.

Cushman & Wakefield’s deal representing Pfizer in an 800,000 square foot lease at Tishman Speyer’s new development at 66 Hudson Boulevard was the largest deal of the month, coming in at almost double the size of the second largest deal on the list. A team led by Josh Kuriloff with Matthias Li and Andrew Braver represented the tenant in the transaction.

At number nine, we had the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations’ transaction at 605 Third Avenue in which the tenant took 50,000 square feet. Mariyon Robertson and Junji Miyake of Cushman & Wakefield represented the tenant, and Bruce Mosler, Lou D’Avanzo, Michael Baraldi, Andrew Ross, and Maria Travlos represented the landlord, Fisher Brothers, in the transaction.

Last on the list was IQVIA’s lease at Brookfield Property Partner’s 300 Vesey Street in Battery Park City. Robert Lowe, Nicholas Dysenchuk and Andrew Behymer of Cushman & Wakefield represented IQVIA in their 46,000 square foot office lease.

April 2018 had the 8th highest monthly leasing total on record with total leasing activity surpassing 4.5 million square feet in Manhattan. More than 3.3 million square feet of new leases were signed, putting the Manhattan office market 11.4 percent ahead of 2017’s pace, and an additional 1.2 million square feet of renewals brought total leasing activity to over 4.5 million square feet.

In addition to the firm’s great success in Manhattan’s office leasing market, the firm also secured the fourth largest retail lease in Manhattan, according to The Real Deal. Jason Greenstone, Mike O’Neill and Taylor Reynolds of Cushman & Wakefield represented Forever 21 in a 43,000 square foot retail lease last month at Vornado’s 435 Seventh Avenue, Penn Plaza.
