As eCommerce continues to evolve, and the 2016 Holiday Shopping Season begins in earnest this week, Cushman & Wakefield Logistics & Industrial Services and Retail services wanted to share with you some insights and perspectives on key consumer trends and implications for both Retail and Industrial real estate.
In the 25 years or so since the inception of eCommerce as we know it today, vast changes have occurred in the online shopping and fulfillment processes, as well as the bricks and mortar traditional in-store shopping experience. Shopping worlds that were once seen as distinct, with delineated supply chains, inventories and customer experiences, are increasingly merging, integrating and providing a more seamless shopping experience.
The holiday shopping season brings with it a plethora of challenges and opportunities for retailers, whether they are pure-play online e-tailers, or bricks and mortar retailers trying to serve their consumers through omnichannel capabilities. In today’s session, we’ll dive in to explore some recent trends, what we expect to see for the 2016 holiday shopping season, and some considerations for retail and industrial real estate, as retailers and e-tailers try to win the 2016 season, and look ahead to changes they may need to make in 2017 to better prepare for next year’s shopping season.
