Why is International Women’s day important to you?
International Women’s Day is important to acknowledge women’s achievements and successes, whilst at the same time, acknowledging that there is still so much progress to be made in terms of the Gender Pay Gap, representation on Boards and in Senior Positions. IWD brings together female voices across the globe, united all on the same day to help make a difference and advocate for continued progress and positive change.
I am Vice Chair of Women in Planning North West, a network set up to empower women in the planning profession. We had a really successful launch event in January 2018 and are looking forward to hosting more events throughout the North West this year – helping bring women of different backgrounds together, encouraging networking, informal mentoring and supporting professional development. Our next event ‘Plan your career’ will take place on International Women’s Day and we will hear from inspirational women in the public and private sectors as well as tips on how to develop and progress in your career.
