Top-Ranked Capital Markets Team Joins Cushman & Wakefield in Austin, San Antonio

Former CBRE leaders Todd Mills, Carrie Caesar, and Hunter Mills have closed billions in commercial property transactions in Central and South Texas.

AUSTIN, August 16, 2017 – Cushman & Wakefield is excited to welcome one of the region’s most successful capital markets teams to its firm. Joining are Todd Mills, Carrie Caesar, and Hunter Mills, all formerly with CBRE.

“The addition of this formidable team immediately positions Cushman & Wakefield as a dominant player in all facets of institutional and private client investment sales in Central and South Texas,” said Spencer Hayes, Managing Principal of Cushman & Wakefield’s Austin office. “Todd, Carrie, and Hunter also are a great fit culturally. They believe in what we’re doing regionally, as well as nationally and globally, and trust that we will support their ongoing growth and success.”

Todd Mills, former Executive Vice President at CBRE, joined that firm in 1994 and has dedicated his entire professional career to investment property sales in the Austin and San Antonio markets. Collectively, the Mills team has successfully closed more than 300 investment sale transactions, with a total volume of more than $5 billion since 2005. Owners have trusted the team to market some of the largest assets in the region, including AMD Lone Star Campus, Seaholm, and Frost Bank Tower in Austin, and Bank of America Plaza, Elian, and Concord Plaza in San Antonio.

Carrie Caesar, former First Vice President at CBRE, a firm she joined in 2000, has been active in the San Antonio commercial real estate market since 1991. She specializes in the disposition of investment properties throughout Central and South Texas. She has been working the private capital arena, and during her career she has closed numerous office, retail, and industrial transactions, with a total consideration of nearly $950 million. A former Board member and Past President of CREW San Antonio, she earned her MBA in Land Economics and Real Estate from Texas A&M University.

Hunter Mills, former Vice President at CBRE, joined that firm in 2010. As part of the Institutional Team, his closed transactions have spanned from Seaholm, Chase Tower, and Summit at Lantana in Austin to Bank of America Plaza, Elian, and 4350 Lockhill Selma in San Antonio. He’s a member of the Real Estate Council of San Antonio and Urban Land Institute Young Leaders.

“There’s great momentum at Cushman & Wakefield, and we’re looking forward to playing a significant role in the firm’s ongoing expansion in Central Texas,” Todd Mills said. “I have a great deal of respect for the culture and the company’s strong leadership, all the way up to our Chairman and CEO, Brett White.”

In their new roles, Mills, Caesar, and Mills will work in collaboration with existing Cushman & Wakefield professionals in both Austin and San Antonio.

“We are thrilled that the Mills team is joining us as an important component of our national capital markets platform, which operates as a single team across markets and product types to drive value and create opportunities for investors,” said Joe Stettinius, Chief Executive of Brokerage & Capital Markets in the Americas for Cushman & Wakefield. “Texas is a great environment in which to do business, and we are committed to further growing our capabilities there to better serve our clients.”

Austin and San Antonio are among the strongest commercial real estate markets in the country. Austin currently has an unemployment rate of 3.6%, and job growth in the region continues to outpace national averages. Development activity is brisk, and leasing activity also remains strong. Likewise, San Antonio continues to benefit from its strategic geographic location, diverse economy, and quality workforce. The outlook for the office market is positive, with tenants showing an interest in higher-quality space and a willingness to pay the associated higher lease rates.

Hayes said the expansion of Cushman & Wakefield’s capital markets group will significantly impact the firm’s Central Texas offices. “Capital markets are the headwaters of many of our service lines, including Agency Leasing, Property Management, Project and Development Services, and Valuation and Tax Advisory,” he said. “The addition of this dominant team will have many positive effects firm-wide. We are excited to grow all of our services in Austin as well as San Antonio, in cooperation with our alliance partner, Cushman & Wakefield/San Antonio Commercial Advisors, led by Brent Smith. We are thrilled to have Todd, Carrie, and Hunter on our team.”
