10 Ways to Ring in the New Year with Austin Style


You don’t have to go far in Austin to find a great party to ring in 2017. Here are just 10 of the many events  welcoming in the New Year:

Austin’s New Year 2017

Cost:  FREE

When:  12/31 @ 3 PM – 10 PM

Where:  Vic Mathias Shores, AKA Auditorium Shores:  950 West Riverside Dr.

Why:  The Lake Stage will showcase: Shinyribs, an American country-soul; swamp funk band, singer-songwriter Ray Wyllie Hubbard; and the young talented blues men, The Peterson Brothers.

 Get ready to jump up and down with a CAPYAC dance party headlining at the Oak stage; Harvest Thieves bringing Americana and Folk-Rock; and Roxy Roca, an Austin-based, six-piece, southern soul band driven by a horn section and powerful vocals.

 Capping off the festive evening, the traditional fireworks finale will start at 10 p.m. The Community New Year’s Eve event hosted by the City of Austin kicks of a 3 p.m. Dec. 31 at Vic Mathias Shores.


Noon Year’s Eve Party w/ Joe McDermott

Cost: FREE

When:  12/31 @ 11:00 AM -12:30 PM

Where:  Lake Travis Community Library, 1938 Lohmans Crossing, Lakeway

Why:  Can’t stay awake for the midnight hour? Then join us on Saturday, December 31st to celebrate the New Year at noon! We’ll make hats and noise makers starting at 11am, children’s musician Joe McDermott will perform at 11:30am, then we’ll snack on goodies and toast to the 12 o’clock hour! Happy Noon Year!


Noon Year’s Eve in Westlake

Cost: FREE

When: 12/31 @ 1:30 AM

Where:  Westbank Library, 1309 Westbank Dr.

Why: Join us for a special Storytime and Party, where we will count down to noon in celebration of the New Year!


Kids’ New Year’s Eve – Eve Party

Cost: FREE

When: 12/30 @ 11:00 AM

Where: Pflugerville Public Library, 1008 Pfluger St W, Pflugerville

Why: Children up to age 12 are invited to celebrate the New Year with fun, dancing, and a countdown to 12:00 (noon)! Kid friendly and FREE


Noon Year’s Eve @ Austin’s Park and Pizza

Cost: $19.95 for UNLIMITED attractions, and a $5 Fun Card

When: 12/ 31 @ 2 Noon – 6 PM, balloon drop @2 PM and 6 PM

Where: Austin’s Park and Pizza, 16231 IH-35, Pflugerville

Why: Austin’s Park N Pizza is throwing a kids’ Noon Year’s Eve extravaganza! The festivities will include face painting, prize-filled balloon drops, NYE activities, and plenty of sparkling, kid-friendly refreshments. Plus, they have a NYE Weekend Combo Special on December 31st and January 1st. Bring your kids for an afternoon of revelry before your evening festivities begin. 2017 is on the way, so celebrate, bowl, race, and play!


NYE 1989

Why:  Come ring in the New Year with tributes to your favorite bands from 1989 including Kate Bush, New Order, My Bloody Valentine, The Stone Roses, Madonna, The Pixies, Mudhoney, Cocteau Twins, Galaxie 500, Morrisey, Easy E, Nine Inch Nails, Dead Milkmen, The Gun Club, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, INXS, The Beastie Boys, Mazzy Star, Depeche Mode, and more!


Speakeasy Legendary NYE Bash

When:  12/31 @ 8 PM – 2:00 AM

Where: Speakeasy, 412 Congress Ave.

Why:  An unforgettable night of dancing, DJs, live music and more!


Bob Schneider’s New Year’s Eve Party @ The Paramount

Cost:  $35-105

When:  12/31 @ 9 PM

Where: The Paramount and Stateside Theatres, 713 Congress Ave.

Why:  Ring in the New Year with Austin’s perennial favorite, Bob Schneider. His annual New Year’s Eve show at the Paramount is a tradition not to be missed!


Willie Nelson & Family New Year

Cost:  $99-157

When:  12/31 @ 6:30 PM 

Where:  ACL Live at The Moody Theatre, 310 W 2nd St.

Why:  Austin’s hometown musician, WILLIE NELSON, returns to Austin City Limits Live to ring in the New Year in style with three nights featuring special guest RYAN BINGHAM. New Year’s Eve will also feature a performance by LUKAS NELSON AND PROMISE OF THE REAL and appearances by Father Time Texas and Baby New Year!


C3 Presents New Year’s Eve

Cost:  $60.00 

When:  12/31 @ 9 PM

Where: Stubb’s BBQ (indoors), 801 Red River St.

Why:  Each ticket includes a complimentary buffet and champagne toast!  Featuring The Nightowls. Their sound combines R&B and soul music, whose debut album Good As Gold was named Top 10 of the 2014 Austin Music Awards Albums of the Year.  All ages.
