Two leases for Amazon.com fulfillment centers in Jefferson and Macon, Georgia, have won the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 2017 Best in Atlanta Real Estate Award for “Industrial Deal of the Year.” Gordon Benedict of Cushman & Wakefield represented Amazon in both lease transactions.
The Jefferson lease was for an 822,257-square-foot fulfillment center, which includes 36-foot clear heights, 176 dock-high doors, four drive-in ramps and parking for 223 trailers and 206 automobiles, at Jefferson Mill Business Park. Trammell Crow Co. and Clarion Partners own the property. Amazon has occupied the facility and will employ around 1,000 people, according to Amazon.
The Macon lease was for a 1,016,000-square-foot fulfillment center, which is currently being developed at Sardis Church and Skipper roads. USAA owns the building, and Seefried Industrial Properties is the developer. Stephen Adams, acting executive director of the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Development Authority told the Atlanta Business Chronicle, “Since being announced in October, the Amazon facility in Macon has been moving forward at an aggressive pace…with completion possible as early as July.”
A previous pair of Amazon.com deals also represented by Benedict, DCT River West Distribution Center totaling 733,680 square feet and I-85 Distribution Center totaling 518,000 square feet, won the same award in 2015.
