Though there has been a great deal of uncertainty regarding healthcare reform over the last several months, Atlanta’s medical office market continues to tighten for existing buildings and expand with new projects. What is certain, however, is the fact that by 2050, aging baby boomers will make up one out of every five people, which increases the need for medical service expansion locally as well as on a national level.
According to CoStar, more than 3 million square feet of medical office building (MOB) space was delivered nationally in the first quarter of 2017 on top of the more than 12 million square feet delivered in 2016. Driven by the demand to capture as many patients as possible, health systems across the county are locating facilities and services throughout the community to make it as convenient as possible for patients.
