Atlanta Takes Title of “World’s Busiest Airport”

Earlier this month it was revealed that for the 20th year in a row Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was named the world’s busiest passenger airport. Last year, close to 104 million passengers passed through the airport, according to the Airports Council International. Atlanta offers access to 80% of the U.S. population via a two-hour flight. Below, we took a look at what the city of Atlanta looked like when it was first named world’s busiest airport in 1998.
