Driven by a growing economy and a friendly business environment in the state, Atlanta continues to be one of the nation’s most consistent employment engines during this cycle.
Among all major metros, Atlanta has had the third-highest percentage job growth in the past year, at 2.75%, behind only Dallas (3.2%) and Los Angeles (2.78%). Atlanta has seen an increase of more than 71,000 jobs during that time period, to make the total over 2.6 million jobs.
And, while the past year has been strong, the coming years look like they will bring more of the same. Atlanta is forecasted by Moodys Analytics to have the third-highest job growth rate over the next four years, at 1.86%. Dallas (2.6%) and Miami (1.9%) are the only major metros with more robust expectations for jobs through 2020.
