Military Friendly® Honors Cushman & Wakefield with Silver Designation

By Frank Stanley

Cushman & Wakefield receives Military Friendly®’s Silver Designation.

Next Stop: Gold

We’re still at the outset of our Veterans Initiative, so it’s a tremendous honor for Cushman & Wakefield to receive Military Friendly®’s Silver Designation.

Military Friendly® is a go-to organization for veterans transitioning out of the armed forces and seeking employers who emphasize hiring veterans and their family members. Its company survey investigates and identifies organizations whose commitment to serving the military and veteran community is comprehensive in scope and meaningful in terms of actual outcomes and impact. We launched our new Veterans Initiative this year and exceeded Military Friendly® Standard Ratings for hiring and onboarding, opportunity and advancement, culture and commitment, support and retention, policies and compliance and recruiting and sourcing.

Already, we’ve partnered with Hiring Our Heroes and the Corporate Fellowship Program to identify and train veterans who are interested in a career in commercial real estate. It’s important for veterans in transition to translate military skills – in construction/project management or logistics, for example – into civilian roles, and we help them emphasize and explain to civilian recruiters and HR the enormous value and experience they bring to the table.

Additionally, we’ve focused on our own veterans, their service and sacrifice and telling their stories on how skills developed and life in the military prepared them for civilian real estate careers.

Across the board, Cushman & Wakefield provides veterans and reservists with a culture that celebrates veteran’s contributions and leadership, rewarding work related to veteran skills and talents and a community of camaraderie. In addition to Hiring Our Heroes, we also partner with the Veterans Job Mission, Syracuse University’s Institute for Military Veteran and Families and Operation Finally Home.

For our company, hiring veterans is far more than the right thing to do – though it certainly is that. It’s also smart business strategy.
